'Byker Grove' was a BBC TV series which ran between 1989 and 2006 and was set in a youth club in the Byker district of Newcastle.

'I was really thrilled to be asked by charming director Tony Kysh to play Regina's mother Monica in 'Byker Grove'. Tony had seen me in 'Quayside' and had always said he wanted to find me a part in 'Byker Grove' - and he did !'

Yvette played Monica - Regina's estranged mother - who moved back in with her brother Jerry who had been looking after her daughter. Monica failed to live up to her parental responsibilities, considering herself much better than other people and eventually left Regina in Jerry's care as she went to run a hotel in Aberdeen
